System Identifies, Grooms Leaders
The superintendent of
a major metropolitan school system recognized that 75%
of leadership was in line for retirement within the
next three years. He knew he should prepare for a smooth
transition but he was unsure how to go about it. He
asked Flynn Heath Holt Leadership to help. Flynn Heath
Holt designed a tailored Talent Assessment process for
the superintendent and his leadership team.
The process itself required
one day-long meeting of the leadership team and the
result was a clear action plan for them to implement.
The plan included the following:
- Overall numbers and levels of leaders
needed for the future
- Leaders currently ready for promotion
- High-potential leaders to receive
additional development
- Leaders to be retained in their existing
positions
- Underperformers
- External recruiting needs
Impact
The Leadership Team has successfully implemented
the talent assessment action plan and is in the midst
of a transition to new leadership.
