Taking Responsibility
National Firm Seeks
More Employee Accountability
A professional services
firm was writing-off upwards of $30 million each year
because project managers consistently underestimated
their budgets. The managing partner of the firm asked
Flynn Heath Holt to help him create a process that would
require individuals take more personal responsibility
for the firm’s financial performance.
Flynn Heath Holt designed
an accountability process for the firm. One of the first
steps was to establish a common scorecard for performance
and formalize a consistent process for individual performance
reviews. The new process set clear expectations and
provided a common basis for decisions on compensation,
bonus and promotions.
Impact
The plan has been implemented and is receiving
enthusiastic support from the firm’s leadership. Management
has seen substantial decreases in firm charge-offs and
their efforts are much better coordinated.
